Lynnae slammed her car door and placed her head in her hands. She sobbed out loud as the reality of how much she missed her husband started to set in. She wanted to make her marriage work. She wanted to support him and to assure him that everything would be okay.

She wanted him to come home. She wanted to forgive him and to leave the past behind them. She wanted her family back. These were all of the things that her heart wanted but her mind just wouldn’t let her forget.

She couldn’t pretend that he hadn’t lied right to her face every day that they had been together. She couldn’t forget that he had promised that there would be no more secrets between them, yet she had to learn of his involvement in her parents’ murders from a radio news report.

If he had told her himself, before the whole world found out, she might have been able to forgive him. She might have been able to believe his story, but now she couldn’t. She had to divorce him and get on with her life. She also had to deal with Blaise.

He’d had no right to visit Trent on her behalf. It wasn’t his place to say anything to her husband. She wasn’t divorcing Trent to be with Blaise or to make him happy. She was doing it so that she would no longer be tied to him.

Anything that she got in her name, from a home to a bank account, could be seized as long as she was married to him. He was like an anchor and if she allowed him to, he’d cause her to drown.
